Insolvency features Detective Cassie Oliver and her partner Detective Benny “Beans” Bledsoe. Oliver, a divorced mother of two, continuously fights for respect and equal treatment, while Bledsoe, nearing retirement, is content to do little. The drowning of a Russian mobster unleashes a series of events that lead the pair to three seemingly unrelated deaths: an overdose of a stripper turned office manager, the suicide of a drug addict, and the brutal beating death of a homeless man.
