Coffeetown Press publishes nonfiction–including memoir–literary and historical fiction and some academic books. Please submit electronic manuscripts–PDFs or Word Docs–to email@example.com.
We are not currently looking for short stories or poetry unless you have an established platform.
Most of our memoirs concern growing up in other cultures (Between the Two Rivers/Sirocco) or have a strong theme that will appeal to a specific audience (One Gay American).
We only consider literary fiction with a strong story and a distinctive voice. It also helps if the author has a developed author platform.
Subject line should read as follows: CP QUERY: Genre, Title, Author. Example: CP QUERY: Memoir, MY LIFE WITH TOADS, by Jeremy Fisher.
For nonfiction and academic submissions, please include the following as separate attachments: (1) first 50 pages of the work, (2) a mission statement for the overall concept of the work, (3) a bio, (4) marketing overview, including competitive titles of your topic, and promotional plans. Please do not include any of this information in the body of the email, because it will become lost in the torrents of email we receive each day. Please be sure to include your full name, mailing address, and email address on the title page of each submission and attachment. To avoid confusion, each attachment MUST include the title of your manuscript. For example: TOADSFIELDGUIDE-sample50; TOADSFIELDGUIDE-mission; TOADSFIELDGUIDE-bio; TOADSFIELDGUIDE-promo.

Unagented and agent submissions are welcome. We accept multiple submissions, but authors should keep us informed if a manuscript is no longer available.
If we are interested in reading more, you will hear from us in three months or less. We need up to six months to review complete manuscripts. Please let us know if you sign a contract with another publisher during that period. If you have not heard from us after six months, you may send a followup email.
Queries about genre fiction should go to our other imprint, firstname.lastname@example.org. Please review those guidelines before submitting to Camel.
Thank you for your cooperation. By following our guidelines, you help us review and respond to queries more efficiently so that you will not be kept waiting.
